Who are we?

The Société internationale d’arboriculture Québec (SIAQ) is a non-profit organization that brings together arborists, urban foresters, and anyone involved in tree care and management.

Founded in 1977, the SIAQ brings together passionate professionals united by a common goal: to promote the maintenance, health, and preservation of the arboricultural heritage.

The SIAQ is the Quebec section of the International Society of Arboriculture, (ISA), the largest arboriculture organization globally, present in over 60 countries and with more than 30,000 members. As such, it officially represents Quebec within this international network.

The SIAQ maintains close ties with several organizations of the Francophonie, notably the Société Française d’Arboriculture, the Association Suisse de soins aux arbres and Arboresco in Belgium. It is also a founding member of Québec Vert, actively contributing to the promotion and development of the horticultural and arboricultural industry in Quebec.

The members of the SIAQ are professionals from the entire arboricultural sector, working in both the private and public domains. They notably come from commercial enterprises, municipal services, public organizations, the education sector, and various fields related to the green industry.

OUR OBJECTIVES

Promote and enhance professional practice through training and information;
Stimulate public interest in tree planting and conservation, and highlight professional arboriculture;
Encourage the public to better appreciate the value of trees and tree preservation in environmental enhancement;
Recommend and support a Code of Ethics to maintain a high level of practice by those professionally engaged in arboriculture;
Support scientific research in arboriculture.
