Continuing Education Credits or "CFC"
What is a "Continuing Education Credit" CFC?
A continuing education credit is a point that you accumulate when you participate in training activities related to arboriculture. The accumulation of these credits allows you to renew your certification without having to retake the exam. One continuing education credit equals 1 hour of training (45-minute conference = 0.75 credit).
Accumulation of CFCs for Arboriculture or Related Field Training
Do you wish to participate in arboriculture training and would like to earn continuing education credits? It's simple, whether the training is pre-approved or not, you just need to choose the form that best suits your situation.

Fill out this form if you attended a conference or webinar for which you received a CFC code.
How can one obtain CFCs
Participate in conferences, seminars, and workshops organized by other training organizations. If the activity has not already been approved, you can apply to receive CECs. Form.
Upon the expiration of the 12-month period, the participant who wishes to retake the exam must reapply.

Are you a training organization and want to have an upcoming training approved?
That's an excellent idea. Trainings approved in advance greatly facilitate program management. You must be able to provide us with the title of the training, a description of its content, and the exact number of hours of arboricultural content (excluding breaks and meals). Form. Custom training
Many companies offer custom training to their employees. Any educational session related to arboriculture can provide you with CECs... Notably safety meetings, CPR/First Aid training, chainsaw usage training, etc. NOTE: An individual is not limited to only the sources mentioned above. There are many other resources available on the market that could offer you opportunities to accumulate CECs. Contact us if you want more information.
- CFC Form for Workplace First Aid Card
The CNESST workplace first aid card or the 16-hour first aid course offered by different organizations allows you to accumulate up to 8 CFC for the certification program.
Four (4) CFC are awarded for the first aid component and four (4) CFC for the CPR component.
You must use this form to send us a double-sided copy of your first aid certificate.
Approval of training to earn CECs
Any training in arboriculture and related fields can allow you to earn CECs, regardless of who the training provider is.
- Form to pre-approve a training
Even if the training is not part of the SIAQ program, it is possible to have a training approved before enrolling.
You just need to fill out this form and send it to us with the requested supporting documents.
If you have already attended the training, you will need to fill out section 3 of this form and include the requested supporting documents.

Training provider
Do you offer training on topics related to arboriculture or would you like to allow your participants to earn CECs? You can have your training pre-approved.
Fill out the Form to pre-approve a training and return it with the requested supporting documents (program, course plan, or any other relevant document). If the training is approved, we will provide you with a signature sheet that you can have your participants sign.
For a conference/congress
If the event you are organizing includes multiple presentations, you need to fill out the multi-conference form.

How can I obtain CEUs for a training that I believe to be eligible?
To obtain CEUs for an event that has not been approved, you must fill out the pre-approval training form. -
Can the additional CEUs I accumulate beyond the required number be carried over to the next certification period?
No. The ISA Certification Committee encourages the accumulation of CEUs through continuing education during the three (3) year period. Once your renewal is completed, all accumulated CEUs are transferred to your credit history, and the current total is reset to zero. You must accumulate credits again for this new three (3) year period. -
Now that I am an "ISA Certified Arborist," I would like to promote it. How can I get the logo and what do I need to know to comply with trademark requirements?
When you pass the exam, you receive your certificate along with a wallet card, a sticker for your safety helmet, and a patch to sew onto clothing. All these items can be used daily to promote your certification. If you wish to promote your certification on business cards, letterheads, websites, advertisements in newspapers or the Yellow Pages, etc., you can request the logo by contacting us by email, mentioning your name and certification number. You will receive the files by email with the Trademark Usage and Style Guide. The use of the logo and trademark (ISA Certified Arborist) must be accompanied by your name and certification number. If you have any questions that are not addressed in the Trademark Usage and Style Guide, please do not hesitate to contact us. The use of the logo and trademark is strictly regulated. CEUs for non-educational purposes
CEUs cannot be used to reward volunteers. They must be accumulated in an educational context only. Therefore, CEUs cannot be awarded for participation in board meetings, participation in a committee, or any other program that is not an educational program.
