Knowing How to Evaluate the Vitality of Trees with the ARCHI Method

Trainer : Christophe Drénou

Christophe Drénou is the creator of the ARCHI method. He has a doctorate in plant architecture and is a graduate engineer from INH (National Institute of Horticulture, Angers).

He is a trainer, lecturer, and author of several works, including Evaluating Tree Vitality with the ARCHI Method published in 2023, Pruning Ornamental Trees (2021), Facing Trees: Learning to Observe Them to Understand Them (2019), Trees: A Botanist at the Museum (2018), The Tree: Beyond Common Beliefs released in 2016, and Roots: The Hidden Face of Trees, released in 2006.

He is also an R&D engineer in tree biology at CNPF-IDF, Toulouse branch, France.


Objective

Understand the ARCHI method and know how to use it with the ARCHI method user guide.

Description

Presentation of the ARCHI method (the concepts used, architectural dendro-markers, the principle of the two images, the ARCHI determination keys).

Including field component: notation of about twenty trees using ARCHI type determination keys, work in pairs, followed by group correction and discussion.

This program is subject to change depending on weather conditions.

Schedule:

Morning: 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. (in class)

Afternoon: 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. (field)
